Kerry McNamara

Kerry McNamara is a published writer of creative nonfiction and a teacher of writing. She has taught for Tidewater Community College since 2016 and is a teacher and cross country coach at Grassfield High School in Chesapeake, Virginia. She has also taught creative writing workshops at the MUSE in Norfolk and for Hampton Roads Writers.

Born and raised in Ontario, Canada, Kerry spent her childhood reading books and riding horses. She moved to Virginia in 2005 to further pursue her passion for writing, teaching and warm weather.

Kerry has a BA in English Literature and M.Ed. from Brock University, and graduated from Old Dominion University with her MFA in December 2018. In the summer of 2019, she completed her bio/memoir entitled My Father’s Confessions, documenting the life and death of her father, a Catholic Missionary for the Scarboro Foreign Mission Society.

Kerry’s writing subjects include: horses, teen issues, women’s issues, spiritualism and running.
